Gary E. Riccio received his Ph.D. in Human Experimental Psychology and B.S. in Electrical Engineering & Neurobiology both from Cornell University. His career has focused on needs for extraordinary collaboration and rigorous development of new approaches to prepare and equip both individuals and organizations for ambiguity, change, and challenging environments. He has teaching and research experience in human-machine interaction, bioengineering, biomechanics, neurophysiology, psychophysiology, sensory psychophysics, cognitive psychology, training & education, leader development, research design and data analysis. A key theme throughout his career has been transdisciplinary translational research for defense & aerospace markets, health & medical markets, and knowledge transfer across them. Over the last fifteen years, he has been engaged mostly by leaders in the DoD and NASA for design and evaluation of novel scientific programs and associated organizational change. Since 2015, he has worked primarily with leaders associated with exploration research and technology at the Johnson Space Center on operational and organizational transformation for NASA’s Journey to Mars. He also advises leaders of technology-intensive startups in the private sector.
